  1. Hi Eric

Thinking of pleasures and remembering that they are actually there to experience, can bring such a sense of peace.

    Thank you

  2. Hi Eric,

I like 21. Count your blessings. This is something that I have been thinking about a lot recently (I think in part due to other bloggers mentioning thanks-giving and the idea behind that – something we don’t have in UK).

It’s all too easy to think about the negatives, when we should focus more on the things to be grateful for.

    Nice list, cheers,

    Chris

  3. Eric,

I especially like 21 as well.

I feel that expressing gratitude to a higher power can really center you and help you see what’s really important to you.

  4. Not only did you do twenty-one while most lazy gits only do ten : > ), you saved the best for last. Counting our blessings is as simple as it gets.

  5. Great list! I like “pulling out an old photo album” it always reminds me of how far i have come and inspires me to keep plugging away at my dreams. Also “go on a picnic and watch the clouds roll by.”… It’s been far too long since the last time i did these two. Awesome reminder!

  7. Love the list I would love to add music. Often times I find free concerts in parks. Sunday we went downtown Scottsdale Az and caught a group of musicians playing my favorite song, “What A Wonderful World,” by Louis Armstrong. What if we all saw the world that way?!?

  8. I like nr. 8. It’s amazing how good it can make you feel to send a positive message to someone else.
Or when you’re walking on the street and someone smiles at you… those things can make my day!

  9. I love your list, but I have little ones and do not have the luxury of choosing some of the activities you have here …
I would add “Dance” – my kids are always ready for a little dance. It puts all of us in a great mood, instantly.

  10. @Juliet: I know, isn’t it great to focus on those simple pleasures?!

@Chris: The holidays definitely has a way of bringing ‘appreciation’ to the forefront.

@Jeff: I’m with you on THAT one. It’s a great way of taking your focus and pointing it outward. To become more selfless and less selfish.

@Sean: Thanks! More than DOUBLE BABY!!! :-)

@Amber: Thanks, Amber. Looking at old photos is always good for a ‘fell good’ moment.

@Neil: This is one thing that I think only ‘hobby types’ can appreciate. I’m definitely one of those! :-)

@Tess: Agreed! Music can be one of the most effective ways to relax and appreciate the moment and those things that bring you joy.

@Hugo: Passing on those positive vibes is something we should all strive to do on a regular basis. As you pointed out, it can really make someone’s day.

@Maya: Ahhh, DANCE! Excellent addition! I’m not much of a dancer, but Liz is. And moving to the music with someone you care about is a great way to enjoy life! :-) Eric.

  12. Hey Eric,

I believe in counting our blessings. When we count our blessings, we are much more aware of what is happening around us and we show more gratitude to others. Counting our blessings will help to prevent us from complaining about life too much too.

    Cheers

  13. What a wonderful list.
I’m printing it out to stick in my journal, so that I’m reminded of it often… like most good advice, it’s not new or innovative… rather it’s the obvious, which we’ve forgotten :)

  14. @Jeremy: Enjoy! :-)

    @Vincent: Well said!

@Caro: Wow, I’m glad you enjoyed it! You’re definitely correct that does tend to be those obvious things we either forget or just take for granted. Eric.

  15. Great post! I love it. I am going to take a break and do # 18 right now.

I’d add pet a pet. Instant stress relief.

  17. @Giovanna: Be sure to say hi to your friend for me! :-)

@Craig: I have two Miniature Dachshunds, and for as much stress as they cause my wife and I, they make up for it with love and affection. Like you said, ‘Instant stress relief’! Eric.
