Last night I had the privilege to talk with Leo Babauta of Zen Habits about his latest book, The Power of Less. He talks about some of the benefits of the book and shares some really great tips and insight. Then, he’s offered to take on some questions from the readers about blogging. So once you guys ask your questions in the comments, Sean and I will then pick out some of our favorites to ask Leo in our second interview tonight. So be sure to go over to the Blueprint right now, watch the video and post a question if you have one. I’ll see you over there!
Blogopolis Blueprint: A New Blog For An Exciting New Year
Over the last month or so, Sean Platt of Writer Dad and I have been hinting at a January launch of a collaborative effort. Well, we’re excited to announce that the time has come and our BRAND NEW BLOG has just been launched into the depths of the Internet. This is one of the larger steps we are taking as we seek out a stronger online identity in the hope of helping our fellow bloggers in this same pursuit. We truly believe that ‘this blogging thing’ is just beginning and that those who establish themselves in these early stages will reap great rewards in the years ahead of us. And it is with this perspective that we offer our readers a new community to join and grow with.
But instead of continuing this conversation over here, please click over to our BRAND NEW BLOG, subscribe if you’d like and give is a warm, ‘Hello’. We’d love to see you in our new ‘office’ and hope to be a strong part of your blogging growth. I’ll see you at the Blueprint!
P.S. Nothing has changed at “Motivate Thyself”. I’m still fully devoted to the growth of this blog, it’s content and the wonderful community. The Blueprint is just an addition to the family.
Remembering The Pains And Triumphs Of 2008

Liz and our niece, LaNiyah.
Juliet, a regular reader and author of LifeMadeGreat, mentioned the importance of pondering the past year, before pushing toward the future. It was a small sentence, embedded in her comment on Monday’s post, but it was all I needed to break out my mental photo album and start the gears grinding.
2008, for me, was filled with many extremes in emotion with a few sobering moments to boot. It was a year of birth, mis-birth, and many new marriages. Odd things happened, like us kids being the ones already married and all our parents walking down aisles. Liz became pregnant, then not, and then once more. And now I’m moving away from a 5 year old business, in pursuit of something greater. The roller coaster ride was one to remember. Read more »
Have A Very Merry Christmas!
Is this just a filler post that is basically saying, “I’ll be away from the office for a few days. Have a great rest of your week!” Well, pretty much. But did you see the cool “Merry Christmas” graphic I made?!
I’ll be enjoying some time with the family for the rest of the week, but have great things in store for you, both at “Motivate Thyself” and elsewhere, on Monday. So I hope you guys have a Merry Christmas and are able to take just the right amount of time out of your normal routine to make some wonderful new memories with your loved ones.
I’ll see you on Monday…
"Motivate Thyself" + A Faster Server = Blogging Bliss!
If you’ve been clicking around the pages of “Motivate Thyself” for the past few months you are probably used to the slow load times that accompany the experience. In some cases it may have felt slower than most, while other times it might have just felt average, but the fact is, IT WAS SLOW! I felt like I was on dial up, clicking on a link and then making a cup of tea while I waited for the new page to load. OK, maybe not THAT bad, but it was far from what I desired as a ‘surfing experience’ on my own personal blog. Read more »
