You have provided some great tips here. I like leaving it alone for a weekend. It is never a good idea to make important decisions when you aren't well rested and relaxed. Things always look better after a couple of days away. This reminds me of something the late Carnegie Mellon professor, Randy Pausch, said during his "Last Lecture" speech. "The brick walls are there for a reason. They let us prove how badly we want things." -- we will encounter brick walls, valleys, low points, whatever we want to call these points when it can seem hard to go on. Forging forward is indeed for those who want it bad enough. Good on you for getting through yours - and continuing on to success! I think that many of us who find how enjoyable and rewarding blogging can be, just wish they were independently wealthy so they could just enjoy it without the need to make money. But I actually find the extra challenge interesting in and of itself. But it certainly can be a distraction when all you want to do is write and make your blog 'sing'. Hang in there. You've go great stuff on your blog and I know your community will continue to grow. The monetization comes with time and a lot of patience. @Mel: There's no doubt that avoiding complete derailment is key. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
