It’s 12:22am and I still have the after taste of the sparkling toast and celebratory kiss (from Liz, of course
) of moments ago. We’ve said goodbye to 2008 and an anticipated, “where have you been all my life?!” to ’09. A new year, new opportunities, and a psychological clean slate. Tomorrow is a new day, and that tomorrow is TODAY!!!
Solidify Your Resolutions Here
This is the post for our resolutions to be written. If you want to share your new found commitments with the “Motivate Thyself” community, this is the place to do it. I’ll start…
My New Years resolution for ’09 is that of FRUGALITY. My goal is to be much more mindful of every purchase I make. I’m tired of either blatantly wasting money, or letting the finances flow out of my bank account with no apparent purpose for the spent ‘cash’. So it will be THIS year that I will not only MAKE money for my families future, but take better care of the money that already resides on my ‘plate’.
So let us have it! What’s changing for you in this new 365? And how can we encourage you to maintain your composure as the days turn to weeks and the buzz of the new year starts to fade? Either way, this is the place to help keep your wheels turning, so be sure to pop on by. I’ll not only leave the light on for you, but I’ll keep the ‘digital caffeine’ flowing.
TO OUR BEST YEAR YET!!!
Hey Eric,
My new year resolution is to…
-Achieve six pack abs
-Have a bigger traffic on my blog.

Hi Eric
Mmm, I have a number of goals, but I think that where I need to start is with some personal development.
I am limiting myself in various ways and I need to overcome that.

Eric
Mine is simple.
Be present.
If only practicing it were as easy as writing it!
Wishing you a marvelous new year with your new business endeavors and new baby on the way. It will be an exciting year.

@Vincent: Those are some solid goals, Vincent. I have no doubt you’ll make it happen!
@Juliet: “I am limiting myself in various ways and I need to overcome that.”
We all do this at times, but some struggle with it more than others. Come on Juliet, break out of those restraints and knock this ‘life thing’ out of the park!
@Kathy: Thanks Kathy. Life for Liz and I is about to get MUCH more complicated, but we’re both really looking for it.
Being present is SO IMPORTANT! That’s an awesomely simple goal for the New Year and I hope the best in your pursuit of achieving that state of mind. Eric.
Hi Eric,
I’ve just posted how I will live better on less for the nest 12 months on my blog. I’m eliminating one thing monthly in 2009.. January is designer coffee.
Happy New Year! Tess

Eric, you will no doubt make 2009 a year to remember. One of the highlights of my year was meeting you and I look forward to our ongoing collaboration. My biggest goal for the year is to take everything I did in 2008 to the next level. By 2010 I want to be some place I have yet to even conjure.

“Put one foot in front of the other.” That’s a great line. It very well may be a cliche, but it has a great message.
Happy New Year, Eric! I, too, will be concentrating on frugality this year. For me, it’s as a means to see my business grow and be able to start doing it full time.

Happy New Year!
I never do new year’s resolutions. That said, something that’s changing for me this coming year is my location. I’m moving abroad again. Date and location is yet to be set, because it will be dependent on where I get a job, but abroad it will be!

@Tess: That’s awesome, Tess! I love how you’re taking small steps. The designer coffee is a great first.
@Sean: Ditto, my friend!
“By 2010 I want to be some place I have yet to even conjure.”
I’ve got shotgun!
@Bamboo Forest: Thanks! It’s often the simplest concepts that we forget to fallow.
@Matt: I’m SO EXCITED for you! I just know that this will be the year you make the transition and tare it up in the consulting world. I wish you all the best!
@Emma: That’s exciting, Emma! I lived in London for 7 months back in ’99. It was an interesting experience and one that taught me many things. I hope you find the right job/location and really enjoy the journey. Be sure to let us know how it turns out. Eric.
This is my year to take care of self-care. Both my children have now graduated high school and one is travelling the world. Self care includes the classics such as fitness and physical wellbeing and also includes meditation, yoga and my happiness project. Most of all it means balance. I love working hard, I love writing my blog and I intend to be mindful of bringing in a balance between receptivity and productivity. I have also written my 10 personal commandments which was a lot of fun and very moving. Good luck everyone in your journey this year. May 2009 be all that you could wish it to be for yourself and this world.
leona’s last blog post..10 Personal Commandments for 2009
Hey Eric…
I guess I have a load of resolutions/goals for 2009… Top of the list is to stay determined. Stay determined with my goals, my marriage and family, my standards. Stay determined with trying new things, exploring life a bit more!
None of this is possible without action. I was discussing with a friend tonight the phenomena of self-help junkies who never take action. I’d hate to fall into this category, and it’s helped strengthen my resolve so to speak.
By the way, I really appreciated the video post. Kind of adds a new dimension, seeing and hearing someone!
All the best Eric.
Ross’s last blog post..Finding the will to change your life
@leona: I wish all the best to you this year. Just remember this ‘buzz’ and excitement to changer your life, in February. And if you’re struggling to ‘get things done’ by then, stop on by and see if you can’t get a boost from “Motivate Thyself”. That’s what we’re all here for!
@Ross: I like that Ross…STAY DETERMINED. It’s definitely an essential trait to hold to/grow if you want have lasting forward motion.
As for the video, thanks for mentioning it and giving me positive feedback. It’s one of my first and I was hoping not to sound like a total newbie. I’m sure I’ll get better ‘on screen’ over time, but it certainly helps to know it wasn’t a total bust. And I agree that it’s nice to actually see and hear a blogger on occasion. It helps give the rest of the content a unique voice. At least I hope…
Eric.
I’m going to lose twenty pounds~!
@Jenn: AWESOME! Now you’ve declared it…Now it shall be! Well, you also have to work at it and stuff, but that just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Thanks for sharing and be sure to stop on by when you need a boost. We’ll be here! Eric.
