  1. I like your list of tips. The first one is easy to dismiss but probably the most important because it helps heighten self awareness. So many people sabotage their goal sub-consciously.

  2. Ali I can really see you everywhere in the blog I visited. Great post by you again!

By breaking down tasks that are too huge definitely helps us to complete it easier. I believe celebrating the little milestones that we have reach will give us a boost to continue to strive towards the ultimate goal.

  3. Thanks, Ali. These are all good tips. I used to be a lot better about this as I had less on my plate, but as it’s become fuller, I’ve become more relaxed in some of my methods. This is not a good thing. Thank you for the much needed reminder.

  4. Good suggestions!

One additional thing that I find helpful is to take the list I made in Step 1 and find ways to remind myself of it often. Posting the list on the wall helps me, but I see it so often that it sometimes becomes background noise. Making a daily habit of going over it and getting excited, right before I have a chunk of time to work toward my goals, that’s helped me a lot.

  5. Ali,
I appreciated the reminders this morning – thanks Eric for the quest spot here…
I am actively working on getting back into the saddle of being the healthiest I have ever been in my life by next August….but this round of pneumonia taking a month to recover from really left me flat on my back on the ground. Recovery is too slow.

I am looking for those stepping stones to get me to the ladder to climb on board….Whoa back!
    Thanks for the stimulus

  6. Hi Ali,

Another great post! I’m sure glad I interviewed you before you got famous. ;-) Just kidding. You are doing great! Keep the good stuff coming!

  7. Writer Dad — yep, I too have the problem of slowly taking on more and more and more projects… I get too excited about too many things!

Pace, I really like the idea of going over the list daily. It could be part of a great first-thing-in-the-morning routine.

Patricia, what a fantastic goal to have for your health! Best of luck with it — the pneumonia sounds like a huge challenge, but I’m sure you will be able to overcome it. (Give yourself the time you need to recover, though, even if it means pushing your goal date back a couple of months.)

Jeremy, I’m the one who should be thanking you for the opportunity to guest post! It’s always a priviledge to get to poke my head into other people’s blogs. :-)

  8. Thanks Ali, for sharing this excellent post! Each tip had some great insight. I especially like tracking how far you’ve come. It’s so easy to forget your progress and lose the motivation that can be had from the recognition of those previous steps. Eric.

  9. Great insights! Inch by inch, everything’s a cinch. Yard by yard, it’s hard. I’ve found that focus and not attempting to change too many things at once is essential.
