WOW, has it already been 4 months?! It was the very last days of July that I started “Motivate Thyself” and, in effect, my blogging career. I have one of those really weird feelings where it seems like an eternity ago and like it was yesterday, all at the same time. Do you know what I mean? Kind of like, “Man, I was SUCH a ROOKIE! I’ve learned SO MUCH since I started SO LONG ago.” And yet these words are just as accurate, “OK, so I’ve made those first few baby steps and I’m still standing up straight and moving forward. NOW breathe. Now take another step…”
This is post number 102, by the way. The 100 mark came and went and I didn’t even notice. I guess it was my Thanksgiving post that made that mark. So here I stand, coming up on the new year and soon to become a half year old blogger. That may sound silly to mention for some, but if you are a blogger yourself, you can understand the significance of lasting more than a month. Blogging is a marathon and few are prepared for the many grueling miles that are mixed in with those joyous spurts of energy. So for all those who have made it this far, let’s make a toast. TO ENDURANCE AND EXCELLENCE!!! (Raises glass of grape juice…I think champagne tastes like dry chalk dust.
)
This leads me to the OTHER purpose of this post; the future of “Motivate Thyself” and myself as a blogger.
If you haven’t already heard, Sean Platt of Writer Dad and I are cooking up something special for launch in January. We’re super excited about it and can’t wait to unveil all of our hard work! But in the mean time I am making one simple adjustment to “Motivate Thyself”. I’ve been posting Monday through Friday for awhile now, but am going to cut it back to roughly 3 days a week. Most likely you will see new content on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of every week. If you’re a subscriber this won’t matter because you’ll get the content when it comes out and you can just pop over when you feel like joining in the conversation. And IN NO WAY do I intend on putting less thought into my posts. If anything, this will allow me to go a little deeper and really be proud to push publish every time! But this will also allow the necessary energy to be poured into our other endeavors as well. So I think it’s a Win-Win situation for everybody and I’m excited about the ‘things to come’!
This 4 months has been a long and winding road, and yet it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the future I see for “Motivate Thyself’. No matter how many other Internet endeavors I pursue, this blog will always be my ‘online fingerprint’. I hope to continue to make it a true reflection of my heart and mind and I look forward to seeing you, my readers and fellow bloggers/friends share in this great experience! I look forward to seeing you around, not only in the basement of my blog, but also in the many wonderful fingerprints you are all presenting to the world!
‘
Eric,
Congrats on making it to the 4 month mark! Not only have you kept your posting schedule consistent, but your quality of posts has also stayed consistent. I look forward to seeing what you guys are about to launch in January. Good luck in the future!

Eric,
Congratulations on your progress. I doubt anyone coming to your sites would know that you had only been blogging for 4 months, you seem like such a more mature blogger.
May it continue!

I am looking forward to the new project as well. Unlike Barbara, though, “patiently” is a bit iffy.
I agree with Chris, “mature blogger” indeed!

Maybe to celebrate you could pull out your favourite lines from some of your hundred posts… (like the way the 100th episode of Buffy used for the opening credits clips from Josh’s favourite eps)

Congratulations on 4 months and 100 (well, 102) entries! I just hit the 2.5 week mark, and I can already see that having a blogging career (or even side hobby) can take a lot of motivation and patience. As long as you’re passionate about what you write!

@Jeremy: Me too, Jeremy! Looking forward to the weeks and months ahead of us.
@Juliet: Once again, I’m liking the fact that I was perceived older. I figure that the opposite could have been said, so I’ll take this direction.
@Alex: You know that’s actually an excellent idea! I might just do that. Thanks! (Liz and I used to watch Buffy when we first go married. At least the reruns.)
@Dianna: I’m so glad you’ve found this blog and joined the community! Welcome!
OK, so you’re at 2.5 weeks. Just 1.5 more and you’ll have outlasted the vast majority of new bloggers. Great job! But like you said, it ‘aint easy. Eric.
